An important step forward has been made for primary care and health policy: the OECD has officially released the PaRIS (Patient-Reported Indicator Surveys) Public Use Files.
These internationally comparable datasets from 15 countries, including our Canadian data, provide new opportunities to better understand patient-reported outcomes and experiences among adults aged 45+ who have recently accessed primary care services. More importantly, they help evaluate health systems through what matters most: the patient perspective and lived experience of care.
For CPCRC, this initiative represents an important opportunity to strengthen patient-centred and evidence-informed primary care.
Why this matters:
- International comparisons in primary care
- Greater visibility for PROMs and PREMs in health policy
- New opportunities for international research collaboration
- Stronger evidence to support more equitable and sustainable health systems
These data open new perspectives for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers working in primary care and public health.
