Provincial Summaries of Governance Structures for Health and Social Services and Primary Care: A 2018 Canadian Snapshot
This is supporting material for a 2017-2019 policy scan to describe and compare initiatives across Canada to integrate services across health and social sectors for primary care patients withcomplex care needs. This document presents the provincial narrative summaries written in 2018 and 2019 that drew from publicly available information from government websites pertaining to provincial institutional authorities that govern primary care, health and social services, macro level policies affecting primary care since 2001 and primary care delivery models.

Study Protocol: Impact of externally facilitated continuous quality improvement cohorts on Advanced Access to support primary healthcare teams
Mylaine Breton’s team published a study protocol as part of their CPCRN-funded research project, Impact of a Pan-Canadian CQI cohort program on advanced access to support PHC clinics. It was published in BMC Primary Care, an open access journal. (Breton et al., 2023)
Primary and Integrated Health Care Innovations (PIHCI) Network Summary Report
We are very pleased to share a recently published report and infographic which summarize the accomplishments and impacts of the PIHCI Network during Phase 1 of our funding from CIHR. The successes and strengths of the Network that are highlighted demonstrate how far we have come, and form the foundations on which we which we will continue to build. A PIHCI Network grant team recently published an article discussing mechanisms to address potential patient partner concerns regarding the use of validated questionnaires in research. See the October 2021 issue of Health Expectations: Reconciling validity and challenges of patient comfort and understanding: Guidelines to patient-oriented questionnaires (Catherine Hudon et al.).

Adapting Practice and Seeking Support (Providing Physiotherapy in a Pandemic #2) Infographic
A short monthly survey was distributed by provincial professional physiotherapy associations and divisions, social media, and personal networks. Each cycle included respondents from all provinces and one territory. The surveys were conducted by the BC Primary Health Care Research Network and led by Allison Ezzat, JF Esculier, and Sabrina Wong. This is the second of two infographics (see first listed below). Providing Physiotherapy in a Pandemic Infographic
Supporting physiotherapists in all practice settings, now and in the future, is a key focus of the advocacy work of the Canadian Physiotherapists Association (CPA). Research efforts aimed at identifying short-term impacts and trends over time are of vital importance in advocating for, and responding to the changing needs of the profession. This survey offered a rapid collection of data from physiotherapists across the country, highlighting experiences and implications during COVID-19. This work is invaluable to informing key policy recommendations and directions and will assist the CPA in gaining a better understanding of the strain and impacts the pandemic has had on physiotherapists over time. Quick Canadian Covid-19 Survey Infographic
Strengthening primary care in Canada, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, is critical. From April to October 2020, the SPOR PIHCI, in partnership with the U.S. based Larry A. Green Centre, administerd 13 cycles of a cross-sectional pan-Canadian survey to better understand the response of primary care practices to COVID-19. An infographic visualizes the key results of Cycles 1-9.
