Dear Members,
Hard to believe that 2024 is coming to an end but we are very grateful for the opportunities that have presented themselves for us to meet, engage and collaborate over the course of the year.
We came away from our Primary Care Learning Cycle in Quebec City last month feeling energized and excited for the work to come, including the co-development of the Canadian Primary Care Research Consortium, in partnership with the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN), the Canadian Primary Care Information Network (CPIN) and the Canadian Primary Care Trials Network (CPCTN). We also enjoyed a large representation at NAPCRG with a number of workshops, oral presentations and posters which were very well received.
Our Patient Council continues to grow and we are proud to welcome Pixie Wells and Luke Beirne. They bring a wealth of knowledge and lived experience which will continue to help enhance our work and impact. Their bios are shared below.
We also welcomed 3 new TUTOR-PHC Fellows. Daphne To and Adhanom Gebreegziabher Baraki are developing four Learning Series, specifically targeted at trainees and Andréanne Bernier will be creating some video vignettes to help amplify our message.
We wish you a wonderful and restful festive season.

Research Project Spotlight
A message from PaRIS
This past Nov 22nd, 2024, over 45 participants from academic institutions, clinical settings, health policy sectors, and patient groups gathered at Quebec’s convention center for a strategic meeting. Three presenters shared findings from the OECD PaRIS initiative in their respective countries (Wales, Australia, and Canada). Breakout sessions between participants were organized to:
- Explore methods for collecting patient-reported measures
- Identify strategies to support the collection of patient-reported measures
- Map strategies into an action-priority matrix that illustrates the level of effort and impact
This meeting provided an opportunity to lay the foundations for collective reflection on the future of patient-reported indicators of health and primary care experiences. We would like to thank all participants for their contributions to this important discussion. A detailed report will be published in January 2025.
