(30 min dedicated Q&A for Trainees)
Primary care electronic medical record (EMR) data are a rich source of information that can be used to improve health and preventive services and research. This session focusses on their use at an organizational level, as in the case of The Alliance for Healthier Communities, which brings together over 210 sites across 120 Community Health Centres (CHCs). Here data are used to investigate healthcare outcomes and how services offered are responsive to the needs of the diverse communities their practices serve. The session will also showcase the Advanced Access project out of Quebec. It connects more than 90 primary care clinics to a real-time dashboard through their EMRs. These data can be leveraged to monitor access and practice performance, support quality improvement, and inform decision-making at both the clinic and system levels.
